Monking Questions?
Sorry im a newbie to monking and i have a few PvP questions
1.) Why carry a weapon with -5 energy inscription?
2.) How do i switch between 8 defensive shields quickly?
3.) And as far as Holy Veil goes how do i know when to put it up and when to remove it? Like do i drop it when i get hexed and recast right after?
4.) If i stay in the defensive set as much as possible how do i maintain energy?
Thx in advance

1.) often you will encounter energy denial. (enemies using skills to dran your energy) -5e sets "hide" your energy from the denial so you can use them when being denied energy and switch to a high-set for emergencies.
2.) you dont. pick one when a battle is starting, just have them all with you if you can.
3.) don't maintain it most of the time. the vast majority of the time you will simply cast it on a hexed target then immediately remove it. sometimes you will want to "pre-veil" a target that you suspect to be the target of incoming hexes.
4.) cast efficiently. use the right spells in the right situations, and don't spam spells on characters that are at 90% health and don't need any sort of assistance.

1. -5 energy weapon isn't really needed in the meta today, I don't see a ton of edenail in gvg atm, but it's nice sometimes for popping shame to save someone. I'd say get 2 weapons one with a +5 and one with -5 and change it if you think you're not going to get edenied.
2. The two shields I use the most are my cripple and slashing shield. Just kinda use common sense I guess. I keep my bags open and put it in the top corner of my screen so when I retreat I can swap
3. I kinda learned about veil the hard way cause I'm retarded and don't read my skills. I just press them and learn what they do. ;P But generally I hold a veil on whoever is being shut down, usually melee/ranger, and pull on the next hex. It helps rangers or mesmers shut it down, and if you have the energy why not? It's good to tab through I think, and see what they have, if they have a necro, it'd probably be good to pre-veil attackers, if they have a mesmer, veil yourself or your casters. Take care of your team and they'll kill stuff/take care of you <3
4. Pre-protting/preventing damage and only healing when people really need to. Also it's nice to swap to your different sets and swap back to your defensive sets. I happen to have small hands and use xcvb to swap my sets, but you should find something that's easy for you.
Edit: http://teamquitter.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=9440 and http://www.teamquitter.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2844 are both good guides that explain a lot.
